To meet the growing demand for clinical psychology services, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is recruiting a full-time Band 8A Clinical Psychologist to join its Adult Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), based at The Hawthorn Centre in Coalville, North West Leicestershire.
The Adult Mental Health clinical psychology service encompasses locality teams, forensic, assertive outreach, homeless mental health and rehabilitation services, under the line management of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This is a diverse and non-doctrinaire group of applied psychologists who welcome new colleagues with fresh approaches to the delivery of services to adults with mental health problems.
The ideal applicant will be a qualified UK HCPC registered clinical psychologist who is keen to develop their expertise by working as part of an Adult Mental Health Service Community Mental Health Team.
The role is ideally suited to a clinical psychologist who wants to gain broad generalist experience in adult mental health in a community environment.
The successful applicant will deliver robust clinical psychology services, including specialist risk assessments, psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients. Managing their own caseload, they will work as part of an experienced, well-established, multi-disciplinary team, which benefits from having an incumbent senior-level 8B clinical psychologist. They will also be required to work in partnership with groups, communities and agencies and will benefit from having the support of a clinical psychologist supervision network led by Denis Salter, Head of Adult Mental Health Clinical Psychology at Leicestershire Partnership Trust.
The key skills required for the role are excellent resource management, flexibility and imagination – the ability to deliver clinical psychology services directly and via a consultative and supervisory role, providing guidance and training to others. There is the opportunity to develop the team, to train and supervise staff and introduce new psychologically led ways of working.
Denis Salter said, “There is strong and growing demand for clinical psychology services across North West Leicestershire, so this is an exciting time to join the team. The role is ideal for a psychologist who wants to work as a high-level generalist and work on complex and interesting cases. There is a wonderful, well established and friendly team based at Coalville and the Hawthorn Centre offers a modern working environment.”
Dr Sarah Simmonds, Clinical Psychologist at the Hawthorn Centre, “This is a great role for a clinical psychologist who wants to be part of a supportive team, based at one centre and have a degree of autonomy in their role. The new recruit will be given flexibility in how they approach their work, supervised by myself and working alongside the rest of the team.
“I’ve been here six years and I’ve really enjoyed the autonomy I have been given and the fact I have been able to shape the role in the way that best suits how I work. It can be a highly pressured role, but the psychology service here is hugely valued and we get a great deal of support from the psychiatrists and nurses.
“We also have a strong voice and presence within the team which is a real positive element of working here too. I’d highly recommend clinical psychologists looking for their next career move within a supportive and progressive working environment to apply.”
LPT is part of the recruitment campaign Y/Our Future that unites five major health and social care employers – University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, LOROS Hospice, Rutland County Council and Leicester City Council – to recruit doctors, nurses and health and social care workers to work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
