Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership is supporting Primary Care Networks in recruiting Clinical Pharmacists as part of an innovative new recruitment campaign taking place across the County, helping to deliver the best possible care to patients in the local community.
Catherine Wills, Assistant Director of Workforce for Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership said, “This is an incredibly exciting time for General Practice. Many of our practices within Northamptonshire have come together to work in Primary Care Networks to strengthen the services and support they can deliver to the local community.
“This is a fresh and innovative approach to recruitment which will enable pharmacists to be considered for one of several positions available across our county, and I am extremely proud that we are leading the way in Northamptonshire. This recruitment drive is a fantastic opportunity for experienced pharmacists to become part of a new way of working in General Practice, and work alongside the wider general practice teams to develop the provision of primary care.”
The work of these new Clinical Pharmacists could include helping the GP Clinical Directors deliver services across the PCNs such as undertaking Structured Medication Reviews and proactively managing patients with complex polypharmacy.
They could also provide support for general practice teams through addressing prescription and medication queries, and provide expertise in clinical medicines advice. A key aspect of the role will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; providing clinical leadership; and ensuring that the practice integrates with community and hospital pharmacy to help improve patient outcomes.
