Giving a Voice to Ethnic Minority Staff

A Multicultural Network at a health and social care company has been recognised for the work it is doing to give a voice to ethnic minority staff.

Cygnet Group is a leading provider of services for individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism. It runs a Cygnet Health Care and a Cygnet Social Care division.

The company has been shortlisted in the Nursing Times Workforce Awards in the Best Employer for Diversity and Inclusion category for the work of its Multicultural Network. This award aims to recognise an organisation that has made a significant improvement and continued commitment to the diversity of its workforce.

Cygnet’s Multicultural Network is a vibrant forum that plays an instrumental role in providing a credible and unified voice for Minority Ethnic staff.

The Network aims to help Cygnet to shape relevant strategies and policies based on the shared unique experiences of colleagues and to identify and provide the necessary support.

Beatrice Nyamande, Co-Deputy of the Multicultural Network said: “Here at Cygnet, we know that people’s differences should be valued and supported in the workplace and every person should experience equal treatment and equal opportunity.

“Our Multicultural Network has gone from strength to strength and earlier this year we were delighted to launch our Multicultural Network Strategy for 2023-2025 which focuses on our top four priorities; Education & Awareness, Creating a safe space, Career Development, and Celebration & recognition.

“On behalf of all the team members who have contributed to the network I would just like to say how delighted we are that our hard work and commitment to making a positive difference to ethnic minority colleagues has been recognised by these awards.”

The winners Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards will be announced at a special event at the Hilton London Metropole on Tuesday 21st November.
