Dexcom Enhances Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System App in the UK

DexCom, Inc., the global leader in continuous glucose monitoring for people with diabetes, has announced enhancements to the Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System app, continuing their commitment to superior support for people living with type 1 diabetes in the UK.

In addition to all of the benefits that have been available on the app, the latest updates address patient needs and innovation, including:

  •       “Hey Siri, what’s my glucose?”

o   Patients can ask Siri to read their glucose numbers and trend rate (when available) as well as display their trend graph for quick and convenient access to glucose data.§

  •       More followers

o   Real-time glucose data can be shared with up to 10 followers, increasing a patient’s circle of support. ‡ Previously, users could share glucose data with up to five followers.

  •       Dexcom clarity at their fingertips

o   Patient reports can be launched directly from the Dexcom G6 app, providing easy-to-access reports that healthcare providers and their patients can review during clinic visits.

Dexcom G6 uses a small, wearable sensor and transmitter to continuously measure and send glucose levels wirelessly to a receiver or compatible smart device*, giving patients real-time glucose data without the need for fingersticks† or scanning. The system also offers an alarm and customisable alerts that can help patients avoid potentially dangerous low and high sugar levels. In the long term, this can give people more control over their diabetes, resulting in improved diabetes management.

Erik Bjorkman, General Manager and Senior Vice President for EMEA at Dexcom comments: “We are committed to continually improving and innovating our CGM systems to further empower users to take control of their diabetes. The new updates to the Dexcom G6 app will make the CGM experience even better for both users and their healthcare providers.”

The app updates are now live for Android and for iOS.

If your glucose alerts and readings from the G6 do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.

‡Internet connectivity required for data sharing. Following requires the use of the Follow App. Followers should always confirm readings on the Dexcom G6 App or Receiver before making treatment decisions.
