New monthly meetups are set to be launched to make it easier for people in Aldridge and Wednesbury to socialise regularly and make new friends.
Established social group, Black Country Oddfellows, has announced the scheme, after the success of similar events run by the non-profit group in Wolverhampton, Dudley, Birmingham and Bromsgrove.
Its first Aldridge meetup is at 11am on Tuesday, November 5 at Morrison’s café in Anchor Road, with the inaugural Wednesbury group meeting at Morrison’s café in Holyhead Road, on Thursday, November 7, also at 11am.
All are welcome to attend, but are requested to get in touch with the host to reserve a space due to venue’s capacity. Guests will need to pay for their orders.
Event host and social organiser for Black Country Oddfellows, Linda Aitchison, said: “It’s important that people have the opportunity to get together and connect with other friendly people in their community, so we’re excited to bring this monthly meetup to both Aldridge and Wednesbury.
“Ultimately, we want to hold a range of different activities in the area, so it will be great to chat to those who come along and find out what interests them.
“If anyone’s nervous about giving the event a try, please don’t be. I’ll be there to welcome you and keep the conversation flowing.
Black Country Oddfellows’ friendship group is made up of mostly older and retired members, however all ages are welcome to join. It is one of 99 branches that make up the Oddfellows’ nationwide network, which is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the UK.
The friendly society aims to improve its members’ lives through friendship and support. As well as its events, Oddfellows members can access a variety of benefits including care and welfare support and a travel club. There are also opportunities to take part in fundraising and volunteering initiatives.
