Unum Dental covers the cost of PPE

Following government guidelines to help patients and practices stay safe, both dentists and their patients are now required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during appointments, with some surgeries passing this cost on to patients.

As a result Unum Dental policies are now covering the cost of PPE – up to a £50 maximum annual limit – for all Unum Dental members and their insured dependents. This is provided as standard on all policies in addition to covering towards customers’ routine and essential dental treatment, and all at no additional cost to either employer or employee*.

In addition, Unum Dental members can even claim for PPE if their dentist charged them previously and they haven’t been reimbursed. All claims can be made quickly and easily via Unum Dental’s online member portal.

Andrew Bower, Managing Director at Unum Dental commented: “Regular check-ups with the dentist helps ensure we can receive the preventative treatment needed to minimise future oral health issues. That’s why at Unum Dental we want all our customers to know that the cost of the equipment is covered within their standard policy terms.

“Dental cover is the most popular flexible health benefit offered[1] by employers, and after a prolonged period where people have been unable to see their dentist, it’s imperative that employers ensure their staff are fully aware of the dental cover available and reinforce the benefits of continuing with regular dental care.”

*Cover levels, annual limits and exclusions apply (e.g. PPE can only be claimed where it appears on an itemised receipt).
