The Independent Health and Wellbeing Group is hosting Bristol’s largest event to date on the topic of menopause in the workplace on the 19th of October.
A staggering three in five menopausal individuals face difficulties every day at work (CIPD, 2019). This leads to almost one million people leaving their jobs due to menopause symptoms in the UK alone. Nurses at The Independent Health and Wellbeing Group are changing this. With their tailored staff training and health packages, the group gives any individual the ability to flourish at work. Their dedicated team of experts in menstrual health and menopause education have already made significant advancements with Bristol startups, charities, the NHS and global organisations. Their focus on achieving gender-equitable workplaces provides practical and invaluable insights and knowledge through a range of packages.
The Independent Health and Wellbeing Group’s Smash The Stigma event is dedicated to raising awareness of how businesses can better support their staff. The panel will discuss the importance of creating a menopause-friendly environment, understanding menopause discrimination in a group setting, the forgotten financial impact, work-life balance when struggling with daily symptoms, reasonable adjustments that can be made, supportive work initiatives, and appropriate leadership responsibilities. The educational event on the 19th of October will cover a range of these topics and provide time for networking.
Hazel, the founder of the group, menopause specialist and consultant nurse, says of the event:
“There’s a huge lack of education in women’s health. Women themselves don’t even know when they’re in perimenopause – the time around menopause. Let alone how they can help themselves at this difficult time. Me and my team of nurses want to talk about women’s health in relation to men’s health and the wider business context. At the Independent Health and Wellbeing Group we can, and will, provide care for everyone nationally. We have the ability to affect governmental change when it comes to women’s menopause and menstrual health and awareness.”
The Independent Health and Wellbeing Group’s menopause event, Smash the Stigma, will take place at Steinbeck and Shaw from 6pm, October 19th.
