Members of the Senedd meet VIPs (Very Important Pooches) during visit to Dogs Trust Bridgend

Huw Irranca-Davies, Member of the Senedd for Ogmore and Sarah Murphy, Member of the Senedd for Bridgend and Porthcawl, visited Dogs Trust Bridgend and were greeted by wagging tails from the pooches looking for new homes.

They were given a tour of the rehoming centre, and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including Careg the Greyhound, who is recovering from surgery on a fractured hind leg.

Following the visit, Dogs Trust said: “We were delighted to welcome Huw and Sarah to our Bridgend rehoming centre to show them the work we do for the dogs in our care. Like all of us at Dogs Trust, it is wonderful that Huw and Sarah also care so deeply about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to show them the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes to prepare dogs for their forever homes.”

Huw Irranca-Davies MS said:  ”I really enjoyed visiting Dogs Trust Bridgend, and it is fantastic to see how hard the staff work to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that Dogs Trust staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and the way they go above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs across South Wales.”

Sarah Murphy MS, commented: ”Visiting Dogs Trust Bridgend was fantastic, especially meeting Careg. It was wonderful to see the efforts of staff at our local rehoming centre who work so tirelessly to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was so impressed by the huge range of facilities available to their canine residents and delighted to learn that they are going above and beyond to rehome so many dogs to loving new families.”
