Hove recruitment firm launches Christmas Toy Appeal – to raise £15,000 worth of toys for local Charity

MRL Consulting Group, a recruitment company in Hove is again on a mission to raise £15,000 worth of toys for the 2022 Christmas Toy Appeal. With the help of an incredible community, they’ve run the MRL Christmas Toy Appeal for underprivileged children in Sussex for the past few years, and this year is no different. With the cost of living crisis, this year will be even more challenging for those who already don’t have much, if anything.

The charity’s annual toy appeal has been officially launched, with the tech recruiter asking the community, businesses, and everyone to get involved and dig deep to help. Last year MRL helped raise over £5,600 from external donors – which the tech recruiter matched, bringing the funding to £11,200 – helping to provide over 500 new toys for underprivileged children in Sussex.

This year, with the current cost of living crisis making it even harder for those who struggle to make ends meet, the company is aiming to raise £7,500 externally – which MRL will match again – to raise a total of £15,000, allowing them to buy 750 new toys for local children. MRL will be working with social workers and the Salvation Army to ensure the toys go to those most in need.

One of the social workers who distributed presents for MRL last year said the toys “saved Christmas” for some of the families she works with in Brighton.

In an appeal for support, Kelly Robertson, head of Digital Marketing at MRL, said, “Can you imagine what it would feel like, as a child, to wake up on Christmas Day and see that Santa hasn’t visited? To not receive a single present? Can you imagine how you would have felt as a child if this had been you? Unfortunately, some children will wake up on Christmas Day and see no presents, no stockings, or gifts. This is wrong.

Most people don’t remember much from their childhood, but they remember the first Christmas present they went absolutely crazy for. They probably can’t tell you how old they were, what year it was or what they were wearing, but they remember the feeling associated with opening that present.”

Jordan Lorence, marketing manager at MRL Consulting Group, remembers going crazy when he first got his Gameboy for Christmas. “I remember the first Christmas present I went crazy for. The joy of ripping open the first corner of the wrapping paper to reveal the Gameboy logo was magic; I’ll remember it forever.

Every child deserves to experience that same joy, the magic surrounding Christmas, and the excitement of opening presents. MRL Christmas Toy Appeal is for those who don’t have this or who have never had this. It’s for the children who wake up on Christmas to nothing – literally nothing – can you imagine that?”

MRL urges people to give what they can – and the company will double it – and if you’d prefer to donate actual toys, you can send them to their Head Office in Hove, disclosing who they’re from, and they’ll make the necessary arrangements. And, again, they’ll match it and double the amount.
