Happy Place and thortful launch cards to show friends how much you care

Happy Place and thortful have today announced a new collection of cards to send to your friends and show them how much they mean to you. With the average adult having six moments of self-doubt every day*, the collection aims to provide a pick me up to friends or family who need it.

The cards have been designed in partnership with mental health advocate, best-selling author and broadcaster Fearne Cottons’ wellness brand, Happy Place, originally inspired by Fearne’s 2017 bestselling book, Happy.

Fearne has carefully and thoughtfully curated an inclusive community across her wider Happy Place brand – which includes a festival, an app and a book imprint – to encourage individuals to find their own personal version of self-care. The cards mark Happy Place’s first foray into the world of gifting, and with 700 million greetings cards sent every year, this feels a good place to start.

The cards launched at thortful.com on Monday 15 May, the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. 50p from each card sold will be given by Happy Place to Mental Health charity, Mind.

To celebrate the launch, thortful and Happy Place have compiled their top tips for encouraging positivity.

How can we help alleviate feelings of self doubt?

The idea of self love is learning to love yourself during all moments of life: the good, bad, and everything in between. Although you don’t necessarily have to celebrate the harder times, allowing yourself to feel how you feel and giving yourself permission to rest and recuperate – as you’d encourage a friend to do – is key. This won’t stop those moments from creeping in, but it’ll help you manage them when they do!

Fearne and the Happy Place top tips for feeling confident in yourself

Confidence is a tricky subject, it’s very individual to everyone and is built up over many months of practice.

Some of the things we’ve found work nicely are:

Taking time to treat yourself to something that makes you feel good (like a haircut, new clothes). It doesn’t have to be expensive, even a coffee and a walk in the sunshine might do the trick!

Keep a jar containing lovely things that friends, family and colleagues have said to you. When you’re feeling low, take them out and have a read.

Fake it till you make it. This doesn’t work for all, but research has shown that smiling wide can sometimes trick your brain into believing you’re confident, even if you’re not feeling that way!

Giving yourself a pep talk in the mirror can work wonders, but if that feels a little too out there, post-it notes of uplifting phrases stuck around the mirror work just as well.

How can you help reduce moments of stress?

It’s only natural in times of stress for self doubt to come creeping in. Some tips for managing moments of stress include making sure to take a moment to breathe, stretch and try to clear your mind of the whirlwind of thoughts (even just for a moment). If you can, fresh air and being in nature work wonders. Being outside is scientifically proven to reduce stress, inflammation and increase our levels of serotonin – a win-win.

The cards are available to purchase from thortful.com, with 50p of every card going to mental health charity, Mind.
