‘Café Mornings’ to be held in Denbighshire as part of Dementia Action Week

A series of ‘Café Mornings’ are to be hosted as part of Dementia action week by Denbighshire County Council. These mornings will hope to highlight what support is available for a person living with dementia.

Dementia Action Week takes place this year between the May 15 and 21 and aims to encourage people to learn more about dementia and its effects.

The Café Mornings are scheduled to take place during Dementia Action Week, with one in Denbigh at Plas Pigot on the 17th of May at 10:30am, and the second at Llangollen Town Hall on the 19th of May, again from 10:30am.

The Café Mornings will have information and equipment showcased, as well as a visit from a local school. The morning will offer hot drinks and refreshments and will help spread awareness about Dementia and its impact.

Dementia Action Week is Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest and longest running awareness campaign. Each year during this week, individuals and organisations across the UK are encouraged to ‘act on dementia’.

Councillor Elen Heaton, Lead Member for Health and Social Care said:

“Dementia awareness is extremely important, and I am glad that these mornings are dedicated to spreading vital information during Dementia Action Week. I encourage others to actively engage with this initiative and use this opportunity to deepen their understanding of this condition.

Dementia unfortunately touches the lives of many, and it is through education and engagement that we can create a compassionate and inclusive community”.
