How lack of self-care is affecting your body and why it’s important

We are all on the go most of the time, running around, getting everything done for other people, and just barely finding enough time for ourselves before we go to bed and do it all over again. At the end of the day we just feel drained and tired and unable to do anything for ourselves, but why is that something we call normal? Whenever we deal with days that seem to drag on too long, we might think that we just need to keep going and push through the pain, but sometimes we need some self care.

Self care is simple. It is anything that we are doing to have fun, relax, unwind, and forget about the day. For example, it can be a simple walk outside in nature, a massage, a session with video games, or anything else that brings you joy and makes you remove stress from your life. However, in our busy lives and schedules, we might not find a lot of time for self care.

But this isn’t a problem right? We aren’t calming down and taking care of ourselves, but why care? It doesn’t seem to cause that many problems! Well, a severe lack of self care can really affect your body and your health, and taking care of yourself might be more important than you realize.

What Are Some Symptoms Of A Lack Of Self Care?

First, one of the biggest problems that comes with a lack of self care is a lack of patience. Whenever you are stressed out and worried and dealing a million other little things, you find that you don’t have a lot of patience with the situations and the people around you. Additionally, you might find that you have lower energy, increased physical symptoms such as headaches and stomachache, less willpower when it comes to making good choices, and feelings of burnout.

If you aren’t practicing good self care, you might also feel that you are seeking to get care in other ways. You might not make healthy choices to get food or go workout, and instead you might eat comfort food and blow off doing hard things. You might also find that your time grows out of control as well, and you feel even more overwhelmed.

How Does A Lack Of Self Care Affect Your Body?

A lack of self care can make you feel physically and mentally exhausted and weak, where even the smallest things take some serious effort for you to do. Additionally, stress, anixety, and depression caused by the lack of self care can also manifest into physical symptoms such as headaches, stomachaches, and other issues.

Additionally, one of the symptoms can be a severe lack of sleep – which can leave you struggling with the additional symptoms of sleep deprivation as well. A lack of self care can be a massive problem for you and if it is untreated there can be major health problems. It can even lead to erectile disfunction in men, which can be treated by sildenafil 50mg tablets.

How Do You Make Self Care A Priority?

You don’t need to make a lot of spa days and days off to focus purely on self care. However, you can make self care a priority in both big ways and small ways. For example, maybe figure out what type of foods make you feel good and are healthy for you. If you have a few meals that you know will bring a smile to your face, then make them and look forward to them throughout the day.

Or maybe find an activity that you enjoy doing and try to do that every single day. It could be listening to a podcast, enjoying a group activity, or simply sitting back and absorbing a few new television shows every night. Self care doesn’t need to be a massive thing that you plan weeks in advance for, although that can be helpful for you, but it can also be a series of smaller activities that help you reduce your stress.

Don’t Put Self Care Off

Life is stressful and it can only get more and more stressful as you keep on going and keep on getting more and more responsibilities added to the pile of things to do. It can be almost criminally easy to put self care off and just keep on working, but if you put your self care off for too long, then you will become overwhelmed by all you need to do in life. So make time for it and watch every part of your life improve!
