Calling all Physiotherapists – Leicestershire NHS Recruitment Day Sat 9th Feb

Saturday 9th February 2019 at Loughborough Hospital –

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is inviting Physiotherapists to register now to attend a recruitment open day on 9th February 2019, 9.30am -12.30pm at Loughborough Hospital, to fill vacancies in community teams and community hospitals across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Trust is currently looking for nine band 5 physiotherapists to work in Leicester City, Melton and Coalville and Loughborough. There are both rotational and static opportunities available and therapists joining the Trust will benefit from excellent clinical supervision, training and professional development, as well as research opportunities including becoming a clinical research associate and studying for an MSc or PhD.

At the open day therapists will be able to see how their skills could be applied in a community and mental health trust environment and visit areas where therapists treat patients, including the outpatients’ clinic and the ward at Loughborough Hospital.

They will also be able to speak to managers, clinical leads and those who have recently joined LPT about working in other settings, including clinics, and in patients’ own homes – as some of the posts have rotations which include building experience in all these environments.

Those wanting to attend are being asked to fill out an online application form so that they have the opportunity to be interviewed on the day, should a role be of interest.

Suraiya Hassan, professional lead for physiotherapy at LPT, says,

“New recruits are often surprised at the skills they develop with us as we are providing care for patients whose conditions are increasing in complexity. We encourage therapists looking for a fresh challenge in 2019 to fill in the online application form and come along to the open day to learn about the many exciting opportunities available across the region.”

Tom Haynes joined the Trust as a Band 5 physiotherapist, and within 18 months was promoted to become a senior physiotherapist (Band 6). He says,

“I feel that the rate of my progression wouldn’t have happened without the support of the senior staff and from the management around me. LPT looks after its staff brilliantly. They are extremely good at supervising junior staff and ensuring that they develop to the best of their potential.”

Sandy Marcus-Smith is another senior, working as an occupational therapist and says,

“It’s a fantastic place to work; it’s one of the best places I have ever worked. We have brilliantly supportive teams, my colleagues are equally supportive and they are really interested in developing you as a therapist and seeing you reach your potential. You can push yourself as far as you want to go and LPT will support you to do that.”

And Fay Lem, a clinical specialist team lead physiotherapist, says,

“Previous graduate physios have developed hugely in their first year. When they start, a lot are quite nervous and are wondering what the expectations may be of them, but with the support that we provide and the regular training they find that they develop a lot and are amazed at what they have learnt and how they have developed.”

LPT is part of a recently launched healthcare and nursing recruitment campaign Y/Our Future that unites five major health and social care employers – University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, LOROS Hospice, Rutland County Council and Leicester City Council – to recruit doctors, nurses and health and social care workers to work in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Y/Our Future aims to promote Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as a leading career destination for health and social care professionals, with great career and lifestyle opportunities in all sectors, including palliative care nursing, mental health nursing, public health nursing and even council healthcare jobs.

The physiotherapist recruitment open day takes place from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday February 9, at Loughborough Hospital, off  A6004 Epinal Way, Loughborough.
