Delta Wellbeing win four awards at the Great British Care Awards Wales

Delta Wellbeing are celebrating after winning an outstanding four awards in the Wales region of the Great British Care Awards.

The company, which provides assistive technology and proactive monitoring and support to help older and vulnerable people to live more independently at home, received the Care Team Award, Care Innovator Award, the Putting People First Award and Workforce Development Award.

The awards, which were held in Cardiff, celebrate excellence across the care sector recognising the work of frontline staff such as care workers and care managers, and those people who have made an impact in other ways such as training and innovation.

There were 21 awards categories in total, which represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care.

Delta Wellbeing’s 24-hour community-based response service supports residents in the community with domiciliary care and other needs, helping to avoid hospital admissions and enabling people to live independently for longer.

They work closely with Delta Wellbeing’s hospital-based Blue Army staff to assist patients to return home from hospital by providing care for a short time until reablement or long-term providers can be sourced.

The team also provides emergency social care support to families who are struggling to care for their loved ones whilst they await further assessments, increases in care provision, or just need additional support short-term.

If there are any concerns regarding care breakdown, sudden deterioration, crises, or concerns over the level of care required, the response team is dispatched to support during this time. This supports the individual to regain their strength and independence and remain at home for as long as possible, avoiding unnecessary hospital admission.

The service is the first of its kind in Wales to be registered with Care Inspectorate Wales and allows staff to be able to provide the necessary care and support when attending to a client at their home should they need it.

Delta Wellbeing is a Local Authority Trading Company, owned by Carmarthenshire County Council. Cabinet Member for Health and Social Services Cllr Jane Tremlett said: “I am absolutely delighted that Delta Wellbeing’s response service has been recognised in the Great British Care Awards, winning a total of four categories. This just goes to show how unique and innovative this service is, helping our most vulnerable residents in times of crisis.

“Delta Wellbeing works very closely with the council’s social services teams and the health board to ensure residents’ ongoing care and support needs are met at home until reablement or a long-term package of care is put in place, helping to prevent unnecessary admission to hospital.

“Congratulations and well done to everyone involved, your dedication and compassion never ceases to amaze me, always going the extra mile for your clients, and helping to improve their quality of life as much as possible.”
