NHS Trusts across Northamptonshire are calling for trained healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, porters, healthcare assistants and those trained in housekeeping to boost their staffing levels to meet increased demand for services in the coming weeks as a result of coronavirus.
The trusts will be fast tracking applications to ensure they have the extra capacity to provide the best care for patients over the coming weeks and they urge people will relevant healthcare skills to apply now.
The trusts are all part of the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ recruitment campaign, which has seen Northampton General Hospital, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Kettering General Hospital (KGH) and St Andrew’s Healthcare come together in a partnership with the University of Northampton, join forces to recruit doctors and nurses to live and work in Northamptonshire.
They are working together during this national healthcare crisis too. The University of Northampton has announced it is providing free rooms to house healthcare staff and patients to ease the pressure on the NHS during the Coronavirus pandemic. 300 vacant rooms will be made available to hospital patients and those in social care that do not have the virus, freeing up space for those who require oxygen or critical care during the crisis. The University has also given further support by offering free parking at the University’s Waterside Campus to Northampton General Hospital staff.
Kettering General Hospital is recruiting to key bank healthcare and ancillary staff through links on its Facebook page. The campaign is having a very good response from local people with the Trust receiving many applications.
Chief People Officer, Mark Smith, said: “We are looking to recruit a number of people to support the Trust including Housekeepers, Porters, Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses.
“People who are interested need to apply by following the links on Kettering General Hospital Facebook page and apply on line.
“To date we have received a fantastic response from our local community with an unprecedented number of applications having been received, therefore unfortunately given demands on the service relating to COVID-19 we are only able to contact and take forward applications from people who meet the criteria set out in the personal specification, so please read it carefully before applying.”
“If you haven’t heard from us in seven days you should assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
“We absolutely appreciate everyone who takes the time to apply and thank you for your support.”
