Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a clinical psychologist to work at HMP Littlehey

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is recruiting a Band 7 Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist to work at HMP Littlehey (Category C male prison) in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.

This role offers a challenging yet exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to be part of a growing psychology department within the Mental Health Team at HMP Littlehey.

They will be part of a forward thinking and supportive team that strives to offer development opportunities to all staff. Within the role they would be required to provide individual therapy for trauma and associated mental health difficulties suffered by the residents, many of which who have been convicted of sexual offences, and to work with healthcare professionals within the team.

There is scope for them to develop and deliver staff training, supervision and consultation, and there are excellent opportunities for multidisciplinary team working. There are also opportunities to get involved in research and the team has strong links with local universities and academics, as well as established connections with other psychologists within the wider trust.

While forensic experience is desirable for this post, what is more important is a passion and drive to support some of society’s most vulnerable and excluded individuals, and a willingness to work with individuals with complex trauma histories.

Candidates with experience of indirect work (perhaps with a background in learning disabilities work), or experience in trauma services, are especially encouraged to apply. However, the Trust welcomes applications from all interested and enthusiastic individuals and will carefully consider all applications received.

The closing date for applications is 26 July 2020.

NHFT is rated as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and provides mental health and physical support in the community and in hospital settings for adults and children. They are also one of the key partners in the ‘Best of Both Worlds’ recruitment campaign.

The campaign brings together the University of Northampton, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northampton General Hospital, Kettering General Hospital (KGH), St Andrew’s Healthcare and Northants GP and aims to recruit nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals to live and work in Northamptonshire.
