Derbyshire care home nominated in prestigious industry awards

A care home in Eckington has been nominated for an award in one of the care sector’s most prestigious awards.

The team at Eckington Court Care Home, on Penny Engine Lane, has been shortlisted in the team category of The Great British Care Awards East Midlands region – a series of regional events throughout the UK that celebrate excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

The 21 award categories represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care. From frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training and innovation.

Home Manager Trudy Godley is immensely proud of her staff and their commitment during the recent pandemic saying “The team at Eckington faced the challenge head on and evidenced the outstanding lengths each individual is prepared to go too, to provide a dignified and caring team approach to such a difficult situation.

“At this time, it would be hard to pick out individuals as everyone working in the home made a contribution towards the mental/physical health of all the residents and each other, highlighting a great team ethic within the home.”

The winners will be announced at the 2020 Regional Finals which, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham on 29th April 2021.
