Brits are dreaming of a light Christmas

One in five Brits (20%) plan to go easy on big Christmas lunches to feel healthier this year, with one in six replacing the turkey with something different for the first time ever and 21% vowing to be more active with walks replacing lounging on the sofa.

The survey by WW (Weight Watchers reimagined) also revealed that 17% will drink less this Christmas thanks to the fact that parties are banned in most of the UK in the current global pandemic.

Food will still be a focus though as 20% say they will spend more time on food preparation because they’re not going out as much as they did in previous years. And 10% said that although the Government has said that up to three household bubbles can meet indoors between December 23rd and 27th, they are going to replace family gatherings with food in their own homes.

Anna Hill, SVP, General Manager at WW UK comments:  “The past year has been challenging for everyone, but on the plus side, we have seen so many people prioritising their health and wellbeing more than ever before. It is so encouraging to see Brits make health a priority this Christmas and we are here to support them on their wellness journeys with a flexible programme where no food is off limits.”

For a leaner and fitter festive season, you can follow the WW programme from the comfort of your own home with the new myWW+ app, which features tools to track sleep, food, activity and help with your mindset. There are also more than 1000 healthier recipes to choose from enabling you to enjoy food without piling on the pounds this Christmas.
