How to Look Younger: A Guide for Men

Getting older is inevitable, but many of us struggle to accept the aging process’s effect on our appearance. We feel as young as we did in our twenties, but the mirror shows us, someone we do not recognise. While there are millions of products and cosmetic procedures aimed at women, there has been something of a stigma around older men trying to appear younger and/or more attractive. However, it is becoming widely accepted that everyone – no matter their sex, age, or gender identity – has the right to feel comfortable in their own skin. This guide outlines key steps older men can take to wind the clock back on aging.

Protect your skin from UV

Always wear sunscreen. While tanned skin can make us look younger, slimmer, and healthier, it should not come at the expense of our health. Exposing the skin to UV rays can damage the skin not only from an aging point of view (as it leads to wrinkles, lines, discolouration, and sunspots) but can lead to skin cancer.

Use moisturiser

Dry skin is a quick route to wrinkles, so make moisturiser part of your everyday skin routine. This means applying it to your face, neck, and hands every morning after a shower. It will lock in the moisture and leave the skin feeling smooth and supple. If wrinkles are a concern, you might also want to use a rich moisturising cream every night before bed. Try a new hairstyle or cut

Your hair says a lot about you and can be a big indicator of both age and your general attitude to your appearance. Consider changing it up by styling your hair differently or trying a new cut and/or colour. If you are one of the many men who struggle with thin or balding hair, you may want to consider an FUE transplant, which is a minimally invasive procedure with lifelong results.

Reduce sugar in your diet

Reducing the sugar in your diet is a great change for your health in many ways, but it is certainly a good decision from an anti-aging point of view. Too much sugar in our diet can lead to weight gain, diabetes, dramatic energy surges followed by crashes, and can cause the skin to lose plumpness and elasticity, and damage teeth.

Exercise regularly

Regular exercise has several benefits for our mental and physical health. It helps us to maintain a healthy weight, strengthens the body, boosts metabolism, improves blood flow to the skin, and triggers the release of mood-enhancing endorphins. Just thirty minutes of moderate exercise each day will make all the difference when it comes to feeling and looking younger.

Quit smoking

Smoking causes a range of health issues, the most notorious being heart disease and cancer, and it has a detrimental impact on our appearance and overall fitness. Smoking attacks collagen, leading to dull, wrinkled, and saggy skin and puffy eyes, and reduces lung capacity, making physical activity harder.
